Gavin McLeod is a man who has it all. His corporate climb has positioned him as the next CEO at Holden Enterprises and he is financially stable, allowing him to provide for the grandfather who raised him. His private life is also on fire, as evidenced by the successful seduction of a sexy bartender who gets under his skin and makes him crave more than just sex. Life is perfect until the alluring woman in his arms turns out to be a serious road-block to his future, one that could bring everything he's worked for crashing down around him.
Sunny Black has spent her entire life tending to the needs of others caring for her younger brother since she was ten, and serving bar patrons night after night. For the first time in years, she puts herself first, taking a trip on the wild side with a customer whose raw sexuality is too strong to deny. The next morning, however, she learns that in addition to rocking her world, the stranger might destroy everything and everyone she's worked so hard to protect.
A game of sexual seduction and corporate chess ensues, but when Gavin and Sunny are unable to negotiate a satisfying resolution, Gavin's boss steps in and puts both their lives at risk.
Each book in the Heat Wave series stands alone and can be read out of order.

I liked parts of it. It had a likable H & h. I thought it was interesting, but would have been better if there hadn't been so much inner monologue. I really don't know why authors do that. Is it just their writing style, or is it a lack of creativity? Not trying to be insulting. I really am curious.Another thing I didn't like was the character Callie, who has a crush on Gavin. She got WAY to much page time. Time that should have been spent on the H & h, & their problems. I did not care about this spoiled brat!!! I understand her getting a smidgen of attention through out the book but I don't care about her clothes, money, where she lived, Jason, her friends, or her momma & daddy issues (I admit I like that she witnessed the little love feast, that went on in the bar, while she was standing on the beach). ;) I know much more about Callie than I do about Sunny, the heroine.
I know hardly anything about her past. She took care of her brother but why? It never says!!!
So basically it wasn't bad. It just could have been better.

Last Call Heat Wave Novel 2 Volume 2 Alannah Lynne 9780988436923 Books Reviews
I must confess that I read this third (I accidentally read them out of order). I thought this was, perhaps, the best 'stand alone' of the three, but I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the other two. I did lose sleep over it, though, because I couldn't put it down.
Excellent continuation of the series. I enjoyed the writing style as well as the story line and character development. I originally wanted to skip this one and get to the third book in the series, which I though looked more interesting, but this turned out to be, in my opinion, the best of the three. Highly recommend the series, they are all worth reading.
I enjoyed reading this book and looking forward to reading more books from you. The characters were real and the uncertainty they shared about their feelings and desire to know what they really wanted in life made me question my desire. Great story with lots of passion and sexual action. Thanks again for a great story.
I love the fact that the books can be read separately and that there are no cliffhangers. The characters have back stories and real feeling. After reading this book, you want it find a small town on the beach and read and maybe do something else on the beach ;)
Last Call is the second in the Heat Wave series and is a standalone read. This is the second book I've read by Alannah Lynne and she had quickly become an author I look forward to reading.
Gavin and Sunny's story makes for some steamy and entertaining reading. The storyline is dynamic and progresses with a few twists.
Alannah Lynne's Heat Wave series is one that I'll be picking up as each new book is available.
This is the second book in the Heat Wave series by Alannah Lynne. It took me a minute to start it because previous characters were not in this book. I am a little spoiled when it comes to serials. I started reading and the characters drew me in. Gavin McLeod is a hot hunk and Sunny Black is a ball of fire. These two together equaled hot sizzling chemistry. I always enjoy books that have many supporting characters and this book did not disappoint. Once I started reading, I could not put it down. Now I'm off to start the third book in the series to meet up with some old friends.
After reading the first book in the Heat Wave series, I knew I wanted to continue to see what the author had to offer. Last Call was a great book. It was so much more engaging and intriguing then Savin' Me. I immediately fell for Gavin, even though the opening paints him out as kind of a jerk. And Sunny...she is a fantastic protagonist. She's strong, feisty, fun and willing to take risks. Together, Gavin and Sunny are smoking hot from the very second she misunderstands his drink order.
The story was not what I was expecting. I didn't expect either of the main characters to have such interesting and heartbreaking backgrounds. It was nice to learn that they had more in common than one could see from the surface. There were great elements of mystery and suspense that kept me wrapped up in the book even when Sunny and Gavin were apart.
As much as I loved Gavin and Sunny, I despised Callie, Gavin's boss's daughter. She was annoying, obsessive, and a rich little princess. By the end of the book, I actually really liked Callie and I appreciated her character arc from beginning to end. I would love to see more of Callie someday; perhaps she'll get a story of her own or maybe a short. Hopefully, we'll get to see more of Gavin and Sunny one day and she can be in that.
I really liked this book and I am so glad that Savin' Me piqued my interest enough that I wanted to read more by Alannah Lynne. I look forward to reading the next entry in the Heat Wave series that takes us back to the cast of Savin' Me. We finally get more Kevin Mazze!
